History

October 1983

The genesis of ACF occurred when ten families from the Life Ministry Centre decided to worship together on a Sunday morning. The initial meetings were held in the garage of the home of Pastor Seng Yap in Ringwood.

January 1984

The small group was later invited by Pastor Hal Oxley to hold their services at Life Ministry Centre.

March 1984

When Life Ministry Centre relocated to new premises at Chirnside Park, the small group decided to separate and formed an independent church named Asian Christian Fellowship (ACF). Pastor Allen Vandenburg was appointed its first Senior Pastor.

July 1986

The Elders of the newly formed church were prompted to acquire 8 acres of land in Rowville.

From March 1986 to November 1991

During these years, ACF was a church on the move holding Sunday Morning worship services in Nunawading High School, White Friars College in Donvale and Glen Waverley Secondary College.

In the latter part of the 1987 Allen Vandenburg steped down from the Senior Pastor's position and left for Queensland. Charles Widdowson took over the reins as Associate Pastor for six months and Pastor Seng Yap assumed the role of Senior Pastor.

August 1990

Yong Kwong, Mary Ong, Dr Paul Eu, Jason and Shirley Chong established the Mandarin congregation.

December 1990

Work commenced on the building of the sanctuary at 1070 Stud Road in Rowville.

October 1991

The church is renamed Australia for Christ Fellowship as part of the new vision.
